April 9, 2020
Dear Members,
First and foremost, we hope you and your family are healthy and safe. As you know, The YMCA is a nonprofit organization that provides services and service to those in need in our community. While providing these, the YMCA likewise depends on the community. Specifically, you, our members for your support.
As a Y member, you are not only a member of a health and wellness facility, you are a member of an organization dedicated to serving community needs. For over 150 years, your YMCA has adapted its mission to address new challenges as they arise. Today, our community is confronted with a new challenge and our Y is stepping up by:
- Transitioning our facilities to provide emergency childcare for essential personnel so they can continue their focus on public health and caring for our neighbors in need.
- Providing meals for children we serve in our outreach neighborhoods.
- Providing virtual workout options and resources to stay active and engaged while sheltering in place.
Please know that as we all persevere through these unprecedented times we continue to diligently work to carry out an enhanced member experience you’ve come to expect. Your Y staff team has been hard at work deep cleaning, completing upgrades and doing maintenance during the closure. We will continue working on our efforts, excitedly planning for our re-opening and spring/summer plans.
To ensure the health and safety of our members, we are required to adhere to the Governor’s extended Executive “Stay at Home” order. This means our YMCA must remain closed to the public for the entire month of April.
Your membership dues will ensure our YMCA will thrive again when this crisis is over. That is why we are asking you to stay with us. During this time, we would like to extend an option to our members. You can continue your longstanding support of the YMCA, and at your request you agree to have your typical monthly membership draft converted to a tax-deductible donation which we will utilize to continue to continue to support our programs mentioned above and other identified needs within our community. When the Y resumes normal operations, we will convert you back to your regular membership. However, if you would rather; you can request your monthly membership draft be held until our hopeful May reopening. Please email our member service director josephine.pickard@highland.edu and let her know how you would like to proceed.
We appreciate your understanding and support during this unusual time as we do our best to do our part, we know the strength of the YMCA is in its individual members. “Coming together is a beginning; Keeping together is progress; working together is success” – Henry Ford
Sincerely
